Welcome to my blog!

In 2008, my mid-life transition brought me to Central America with my wonderful man, "Doug".   I left a great job, packed up the pets and headed for the border.  Well, it wasn't quite that simple, but we're all here, safe and sound.  Now what?

Mainland visit

Website addresses to the photo slideshow of our recent trip to Belize (mainland) with our friend Pazuzoo (along with a U-Tube video).

We visited the capital Belmopan, then to the Belize Zoo (I am reading the book "The Last Flight of the Scarlet Macaw" and had to go!).  Then on to Orange Walk.  The following day we saw the Laminai Mayan ruins and fed spider monkeys from the river.  On our way back, we were thrilled with the black howler monkeys (and they were thrilled with our bananas) and we were educated on the art of wine making by Mr. Charlie.  It was a great trip :)

Halloween 2008

San Pedro is such a festive community - we had 3 fun events to participate in (not to mention the adorable trick or treaters).  Scroll down for the UTube Video of our costumes and the parties

History in the making

Not one but TWO historic / major events in the Allred family recently took me back to the states (Atlanta and Alabama) - my brother "Conner's" wedding and my sister "Jan's" 50th birthday (did I mention "older" sister? ha).   This is the website address / link to the slideshow of her "years"

What a blast we had!  The wedding was beautiful and it was a great chance to see lots of friends and family and catch up after many years.  My great friend Trish was my date for the wedding festivities:)

Conner and Missy have a web-site for their wedding and we are all waiting on the photos to be posted.    Here is the website for information and the pictures:  http://www.missyandconner.com/

The only down side was that Doug had to stay put as he is working on his residency and has to start over again if he leaves the country (it is a 12 month cycle).  There are many pros to this so it it worth the sacrifice :)

Birthday at Rojo

I had a wonderful 47th birthday starting with mimosas and presents and ending with a beautiful, romantic evening at Rojo Lounge North Ambergris Caye.  We met a great couple - Nick and Debbie and joined them on the boat ride back to Tres Cocos.  Here are some pics.

Haircut day

Since I have been cutting Doug's hair, we decided to offer cuts to anyone that needs it.  It's easier for me to keep cutting when I am "on a roll", so here are a couple of shots of me beautifying Derrick and Jules on our veranda one saturday :)

Alma, now Arthur

After many weeks of dry weather, mother nature decides we need Alma and Arthur (tropical storms) to pay us a visit.  Yesterday was particularly difficult as the power was out for most of the day and the temperature is hard to manage with windows closed.  We have become quite dependent on the Internet, so Doug's fix was satisfied with a trip to town to the Internet cafe (which  also helped with the caffeine withdrawals....   so we did survive, somehow  :).

Today we hope to get back on our workout schedule (missed yesterday) by paying a visit to Oscar's.  We will try walking versus navigating the puddles in the golf cart.  No pain no gain, right?
